Carmelo Anthony Kyam is an American professional basketball player who is in the team of the New York Knicks of the NBA.
Carmelo Anthony Kyam, known as Carmelo Anthony, was born in Redhook, a neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York, 29 May 1984 Play with the New York Knicks in the NBA small forward.
He began his career playing base in the Towson Catholic High School in 1998, although he was kicked off the team. In the summer of 1999, he grew five inches and became one of the best players in the area, averaging during the season of 14 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. Towson Catholic achieved a balance 26-3 and finished third in the state championship. Carmelo enjoyed a great junior year, almost doubling his averages. He began to think about playing in the NBA, leaving aside their schoolwork and suspending several subjects, which worried his mother.
Many universities were interested in him, especially on the East Coast. He soon decided and before his senior year announced he would attend Syracuse University in New York. Orangemen fan (as it is popularly known players of the university), Carmelo liked the style of coach Jim Boeheim. However, their income in Syracuse was not guaranteed, since their skills increasingly needed to improve descended more and to enter college. So he agreed with his mother in a change of scenery. First they looked at Hargrave Military Academy in Virginia, and later spoke with Steve Smith, basketball coach Oak Hill Academy, with which they finally left. That summer, Carmelo led the AAU Baltimore Select Team to the Final Four of the Adidas Big Time Tournament in Las Vegas. Statistics obtained a 25.2 points per game. He played against the most promising country. This put him in the crosshairs of the NBA. He also participated in the USA Basketball Youth Development Festival in Colorado, where he helped the East to get the silver medal. The only player who approached his game was LeBron James.
After spending the summer in classes and exercising, their academic and athletic performance improved. Oak Hill Warriors entered the 2000-01 season with a streak of 42 consecutive victories and won two major tournaments, including the Nike Academy National Invitational in Texas. Although, the most anticipated match was the one who would face LeBron James (player St. Vincent-St. Mary of Ohio). Anthony led the Warriors to victory two points and finished the season as third in the country. The next step in his career was the dispute of the All-Star high school. Hoop Scoop placed him in the first place in the promotion of senior 2002, while College Basketball News and All-Star Sports placed him among the top three. Before going to college, his team finished third in the Junior World Championship.
In his first and only year at Syracuse University (New York), he led the team in the NCAA championship 2003 and was named Player of the Final Four and MVP of the East Regional. Later he was drafted by the Nuggets in the 3rd position NBA Draft 2003. The NBA has played the All-Star Game seven times (five of them starts) and has been included as many in the third better quintet the season. With the US national team bronze at the 2004 Olympics and the 2006 World Cup at the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 and in London in 2012, he won the gold medal.
