James Marshall “Jimi” Hendrix (born Johnny Allen Hendrix, Seattle, United States, November 27, 1942-London, UK, September 18, 1970) was an American musician and songwriter. Hendrix is considered one of the best and most influential electric guitarists in the history of popular music, and one of the most important musicians of the twentieth century. Musically influenced by American rock and roll and electric blues, after having initial success in Europe with his band The Jimi Hendrix Experience, achieved fame in the United States after a concert at the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival. Later, he led the Woodstock Festival in 1969, and the Isle of Wight Festival 1970, before his death at age 27.
It is frequently cited by various artists for various magazines in music, by several critics and the press in general and the admiration and affection of the people as the greatest guitarist in the history of rock and roll, as well as being one of innovators largest and most influential artists in a lot of genres. With The Jimi Hendrix Experience he recorded four LPs: Are You Experienced ?, Axis: Bold as Love, Electric Ladyland and a compilation album of greatest hits called Smash Hits. However, there are innumerable recordings of live performances that would come out to the market after the death of Jimi. Continued pressure to keep touring band in the grueling festivals led to the use of drugs. At first, they used just to keep the guy in countless concerts, possibly consuming for pleasure. Later it became a mere addiction. Tired of the excessive role of the band Jimi Hendrix, Mitchell and Redding decided to leave the band in 1969. Hendrix was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992.
In 2003, Rolling Stone magazine chose him as the greatest guitarist of all time in 2004 and included it in his list of the best artists of all history (No. 6). In 2009, Time magazine ranked it as the best guitarist electric guitar in history, ahead of B. B. King, Chuck Berry, Jimmy Page, Keith Richards and Eric Clapton, among others. Similarly, in 2003 the British magazine Total Guitar, by a vote of more than 4000 readers chose Jimi Hendrix as the greatest guitarist in rock history. It also has the best riff in the history of music for his song “Voodoo Child” according to a survey conducted in 2009 by the British specialist website Music Radar, outperforming other renowned bands like The Who, Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple, among others .
