Google Doodle Honors the Late Selena

Today Google and Google Doodle decided to honor the late singer Selena Quintanilla and it’s incredible.

Selena Quintanilla was an icon in the music industry, singing rancheras, ballads, Latin pop, and Mexican cumbias.  Some of her most famous songs include Como La Flor, Bidi Bidi Bom Bom, and Dreaming of You. The singer was loved by many, both by Latinos and Americans.  For the Mexican community, she was a symbol of hope and success during hard times.  Unfortunately, at 23 years old Selena has assassinated by the president of her fan club, Yolanda Salidvar.  The reason being that Saldivar was stealing money they made from Selena’s sales and promotions.

Today is the day her first album, Selena, released in 1989.  According to an article written by Forbes, the idea for the doodle was submitted about two years ago and Google worked closely with the Quintanilla family to create the beautiful doodle.  This Google Doodle will be a beautiful gift to all the fans of Selena and her music.  Selena had the power to move many people with her music, and even today she continues to be a huge influence in the Latino community.  If you want to check out the Doodle head over to Google and check it out here:
