Some of the Best Highlights of the 2017 AMAs!

The American Music Awards are always such a thrill.  The music and performances are always striving to be innovative and creative, and the nominees bring new and fresh material every year, making it harder for those of us at home to vote!  This year’s AMAs definitely brought new surprises and beautiful moments, so we decided to share some of the best highlights of the show:

First off, the most talked about and tweeted about group of the night was BTS.  For those of you who don’t know, BTS is a South Korean boy band.  They have an enormous fan-base in Korea, but they also have a huge following here in the US!  The won a Billboard award last year, and they were invited to perform at the 2017 AMAs, which is their first TV performance and first performance at an American award show.  They were the top trending topic on Twitter throughout the whole night and fans went absolutely crazy during their performance of their latest release “DNA”. They even made BFFs with Ansel Elgort, who was fangirling the entire time. Check it out for yourselves:

Tracee Ellis Ross also made a big splash latest night as she wore one of her mom’s, Diana Ross, most iconic outfits as she paid tribute to her.  The family squad goals are real.  Aside from the tribute, Diana Ross received the AMAs Lifetime Achievement Award and gave a phenomenal closing performance while she brought up some of her family to join in the fun!

Continuing with tributes, Christina Aguilera paid tribute to the late Whitney Houston singing a medley of the singers biggest hits such as “I Will Always Love You” and “I Have Nothing”.  However, many people gave mixed reactions.  Some said the singer did phenomenally while others said her voice was too weak and cracked at some points.  The biggest highlight of this was Pink’s face during the whole performance.  Immediately people assumed that Pink disliked the performance, but don’t worry, Pink herself clarified that wasn’t the case at all!

One of the most touching tributes of the night was from Linkin Park.  The band won the award for Favorite Artist in the Alternative Rock category, and when they took the stage they dedicated their win to their late bandmate Chester Bennington, who committed suicide July 20th of this year.

On a lighter note, Selena Gomez finally hit the stage for the first time since her kidney transplant.  This was the singer’s first TV performance of the year, and she made sure to wow us.  Sporting a new blonde look, she took the stage to sing her most recent release “Wolves” alongside Marshmello, with an eerie stage and concept.

Last but not least, it wouldn’t be an awards show if we didn’t have some current politic topics thrown in there.  Our favorite celebs do more than just music, they support the community to spread messages worth hearing, and Demi Lovato did just that.  The singer decided to bring Danica Roem to the AMAs as her guest.  For those of you who don’t know, Danica Roem is the first ever transgender woman to be elected and serve as a legislator.  Demi Lovato, who is openly bisexual, felt inspired by Roem’s victory over longtime serving Republican Bob Marshall, and decided to take her as her AMAs date.
